Theoretically more weight in the neck can be a good thing -- has a damping effect and counter acts the tuning fork syndrome where the energy is wasted shaking the neck --- so I've been told. I am sure that the guitar scientists out there can better comment.

Jimmyjames, no need to make round bottom TR slot, just square profile works as well, if doing by hand.
